Located in Takeo
Province, 58 kilometers south of Phnom Penh, Neang Khmau
is built of bricks and sandstone in the 6th
century. It can be reached via National Road
No.2 and the famous attraction of Prasat Neang Khmau
temple is widely believed
to be used as a refuge by Kali, the dark goddess
of destruction, and hence this temple is known
as the Temple of the Black Virgin which is known
as the Black Virgin Temple.
