Beijing Botanical Garden in Haidan District

Between the Fragrant Hills Park and Yuquan Mountain in Haidian District, the Beijing Botanical Garden is a comprehensive one integrating scientific popularization, research and sightseeing. It can be seen beside the Temple of the Sleeping Buddha (Temple of the Reclining Buddha) at the foot of Western Hills. Covering an area over one million sq m, the Beijing Botanical Garden consists of 13 exhibition halls and grows more than 3,000 kinds of plants including more than 1,500 kinds of tropical and subtropical plants. The beautiful scenery is made up of the hills, springs, man-made grasslands, shrubs and over hundreds varieties of flowers.

 

The Beijing Botanical Garden is comprised of the Plants Exhibition Area, Places of Historical and Cultural Interest, Nature Reserve Zone and Scientific Research Zone. Walking for about about 15 minutes walk from the front gate will take you to the famous Sleeping Buddha Temple (Reclining Buddha Temple) which was built in the Tang Dynasty. The botanical garden is packed with visitors during spring when the Peach Blossom Festival is held here while the Beijing Flowers Exhibition is organized here during the autumn with flowers such as the Chinese rose and the chrysanthemum being the crowd's favorite.

 

Opening times: 6.00am to 7.00pm

Admission: 5 yuan

 

Location: Xiangshan South Road, Haidian District, Beijing

Transport: Visitors may get on bus No. 318 and get off at the Botanical Garden bus stop or take bus No. 333 or 360 and get off at the Sleeping Buddha Temple. Special tourist buses go from Qianmen, Chongwenmen and Zhanlanlu to the Botanical Garden regularly.
