Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, also known as Mao Zedong Mausoleum, was built in August 1977 and it can be seen at the Tiananmen Square. The Mourning Hall at the center of memorial hall houses the remains of great Chairman Mao Zedong of the People's Republic of China. In the memorial hall, there are also the exhibition halls of the revolutionary contributions by Mao Zedong, Liu Shaoqi, Zhou Enlai and Zhu De. Located outside of Chairman Mao Memorial Hall are the sculptures of Heroes.

 

Sculptures of Heroes in front of Mao Zedong's TombLocated north of Chairman's Mao Memorial Hall is the Monument to the People's Heroes which is made of Qingdao granite, shows carvings of key revolutionary events as well as calligraphy from Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai while the grand Zhengyang Gate is on the southern part of Mao Zedong Mausoleum. Mao Zedong Tomb is a famous attraction.

 

Opening times: 8.30am to 11.30am (except Sunday)

 

Location: In the Tiananmen Square

Transport: It can be reached by the subway and also by bus Nos. 1, 2, 4, 5, 9, 10, 17, 22, 44, 48, 53, 59, 110, 116, Te 1 and Te 5.
