Monument to the People's Hero
Located north of
Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, the Monument to the
People's Heroes is a great structure
which was completed in 1958 and can be seen on
Tiananmen Square. This thirty-six meters high
People's Heroes Monument was built using Qingdao granite and it
bears bas-relief carvings of key revolutionary
events and also calligraphy from Chairman Mao
and Zhou Enlai. You are also recommended to
visit this monument at night as it is lighted up
brightly.
