Located on the fertile Hunan plains and on Xiang Jiang (Xiang River), this city covers an area of 11,828 square kilometers and a population of about 5.9 million and the easiest way to move around this famous tourist area is to carry a Changsha city map as a travel guide. This city has been inhabited for three thousand years since the Warring States Period. Located on the fertile Hunan plains and on Xiang Jiang, this place became a main agricultural trading centre. Yuelu Mountain is also a famous tourist attraction which has attractions such as the Yuelu Gongyuan (Bottom of the High Mountain Park), Yuelu Academy, Yuelu Temple, Yuele Palace, King Yu Tablet and Aiwan Pavilion (also known as Aiwan Ting which is translated as the Loving Dusk Pavilion).
