The easiest way to move around in Chengde is to use the taxi services or the motor-tricycles. Taxis and motor tricycles are the preferred mode of transportation in Chengde, the famous tourist city of Hebei, China. If you are more adventurous, you can hire a bicycle and cycle around town. Most hotels here provide bicycle rental services. Using the minibus is another alternative although the service may at times be infrequent. The taxis in Chengde if often regarded as the best transport to take when you want to sightsee the attractions in this small town.

 

By Rail

The Chengde Railway Station is located in the southeast of Chengde where the Beijing-Chengde, Shijiazhuang-Chengde and Shenyang-Chengde railways meet. The express trains from Beijing to Dandong and from Beijing to Ulanhot pass Chengde too. The Chengde Railway Station, Beijing Railway Station, Beijing West Railway Station, Beijing South Railway Station, Beijing North Railway Station and the Passenger Ticket Center of the Beijing Railway Bureau sell train tickets between Beijing and Chengde through the computer network making it easier for passengers to book tickets.

By Urban Transport Facilities

The city of Chengde is not that large. More than 10 public bus lines, such as bus Nos. 5, 6 and 7 run in the city all day long. The starting price for the public bus is 1 yuan and the maximum price is 5 yuan. The public buses in Chengde without conductors charge 1 yuan per person. Most taxis in the city are Xiali cars. It is very easy to get a taxi in the city, with a starting price of 5 yuan. A tour of the city proper by taxi will not be more than 10 yuan.
