The Mountain Resort
(also known as the Imperial Summer Villa),
situated in the north of Chengde city, is the
largest imperial garden in China which is mainly
made up of the palace area and the garden area.
While the garden area is made up of the lake,
plain and mountain zones, this summer palace in Chengde boasts
of 72 tourist attractions designated by Emperor Kangxi and Emperor Qianlong of the Qing
Dynasty whereby visitors will have a chance to
admire the magnificent landscaping seen here
which have similar design garden elements of
Hangzhou, Jiaxing and Suzhou. After entering
through the main gate of Lizheng Gate, you can
see the astonishing Front Palace which housed
the main throne hall and the Hall of Simplicity
and Sincerity. The attractions here at the
Mountain Resort in Chengde will keep you
clicking away with your camera.
The mountain areas in the west and north of the
Mountain Resort include oddly shaped peaks,
weird rocks and lushly growing trees. The
weather is fairly cool in the summer thus making
it an ideal summer resort. In December 1994,
the Mountain Resort was included on the UNESCO
World Cultural Heritage List.

Transport: It
takes over 10 minutes by bus No.5 or No.11 to go
from the Chengde Railway Station to the Summer
Resort.
