RUINS OF HUANGHUA CITY IN CHONGQING

CHINA

Located in Huanghua Village in Shunxi Township, 8 km east of the seat of Zhongxian County, is the famous Ruins of Huanghua City in Chongqing. It was first built in the first year of the Baoding reign period (1225) and this ancient city sits on an islet surrounded by water. At the end of the Song Dynasty (960-1279), the city was the base to fight against the Yuan army but was later destroyed during the war.

Tourists can still see the broken walls, the ruins of the villages of the Qing Dynasty and the ancient tombs of the Ming and Qing dynasties. On Baojiang Rock found in the east, there is an inscription of the Song Dynasty in addition to the many stone carvings of the Ming and Qing dynasties.
