Datong are here for its interesting historical
attractions since the city itself is less
exciting compared to the others cities found in
the Shanxi province. Do not get me wrong as
there are plenty of recreation in Datong. Although
the pace here is slow, the local authorities have
managed to spice things up in recent times with the
opening of many new shops and restaurants. The Red Flag
Square in Datong at the intersection of Da Xijie
and Xinjian Nanlu is full of recreational activities
throughout the day.
