GUANGXIAO TEMPLE IN GUANGZHOU (GUANGXIAO SI IN GUANGZHOU)

Guangxiao Temple (Guangxiao Si), the oldest and largest temple in Guangzhou, was built more than 1,700 years ago, with an area of 31,000 square meters. Also known as the Bright Filial Piety Temple, this famous temple in Guangzhou is important to Buddhists because Hui Neng of the Zen Buddhist sect was previously a novice monk here. From south to north stand, the gate of the temple, Heavenly King Hall, Grand Hall and Yifa Pagoda, forms a complex of ancient architectures and golden statues can be seen at the main temple. The myrobalan and bodhi trees in the temple are more than 200 years old.

 

Opening times: 6.00am to 5.00pm

Admission: 4 yuan

 

Transport: Visitors can get there by the subway, by bus Nos. 2, 4, 29 and 31 or by trolley bus Nos. 102 and 107.
