Excellent tourist attractions can be seen on both banks of the Huangpu River in Shanghai (Huangpu Jiang) whereby cruising along the Huangpu River, visitors can review the past, witness the present and look forward to the bright future of the city. Vast city skyscrapers, the International Convention Centre, Jinmao Building, the Oriental Pearl TV Tower and the emerging Pudong New Area can be seen coexist nicely with traditional structures such as the Huangpu Park, the Monument Tower to the People's Heroes, the ruins of the ancient canon mountings and the fortifications at Wusong.

What draws tourists here is the magnificent views of the Bund, the riverfront activities, the Yangpu and Nanpu bridges and an opportunity to witness the ever-changing contrast of historical and modern sites during the cruise. The Huangpu River tour boats depart from the dock on the Bund, near Yanan Lu, everyday. There are different types of river cruise ranging from one hour up to three-and-a-half hour boat ride. Night departures may be more scenic as the buildings are all lighted up brightly.
