This historical building at 76-78 Xingye Road is the birthplace of the Communist Party of China (CPC). This famous attraction is known as the Site of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China in Shanghai because the first national congress of CPC was held here in July 1921. It was here at this French Concession building that the congress passed the Party's programme and resolutions, elected the central committee and also declared the founding of the CPC. Photographs and the reconstructions of the historic meeting can be seen at this museum now. The surrounding area has now become an upmarket place with restaurants, bars and shops while preserving the framework of the original stone-framed doorways low-rise tenement buildings at the same time.
