TYPES OF TRANSPORT IN TIANJIN

There are many types of transport in Tianjin. Catching a taxi in Tianjin is easy because they are readily found at all major tourist areas and train stations. Therefore taxis are the most convenient and cheap mode of transportation in Tianjin.

 

By Air

Tianjin Binhai International Airport is located in Zhangguizhuang, Dongli District. The airport is 13 km away from downtown area of Tianjin. It has opened up more than 30 international and domestic air routes. There is a bus service from the CAAC ticket office to the airport daily. The ticket office of Air China in Tianjin can deliver tickets to your door for free of charge. In addition, the office dispatches shuttle buses to the airport for a price of 10 yuan. It also dispatches shuttle buses to Beijing Capital International Airport.

By Rail

Tianjin has four passenger railway stations with Tianjin Railway Station being the largest. Tianjin Railway Station is on the bank of Haihe River in downtown area. It can accommodate 10,000 people at the same time. From Tianjin, tourists can go by train to some 40 cities including Beijing, Shijiazhuang, Guangzhou, Xi'an, Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Harbin, Manzhouli and Kowloon in Hong Kong.

Subways

Tianjin has one subway line in operation which is 7.4 kilometers long from the junction of Nanjing Road and Xinhua Road to Tianjin West Railway Station. In total there are eight stations. Usually three sets of electrical trains running with an interval of 15 minutes. In rush hours, four sets of trains run with an interval of 12 minutes. It takes 12 minutes to cover the whole journey. Subway trains are available from 5.00am to 10.30pm with the price of 1 yuan per person.

 

Taxis

Tianjin has around 32,000 taxis. In the airport, railway stations, hotels, restaurants or scenic spots taxis are available around the clock. Taxi fee is calculated based on the distance traveled, 1 or 2 yuan each km according to the type of taxi and paid for the first 7-10 kilometers at least each time and extra fee should be paid for waiting time and return way and in the evening.

 

Public buses

Tianjin has many public bus routes. The vehicles include coaches and minibuses. Many buses are self-serviced and cost 1 yuan disregarding the distance traveled. At all train stations, visitors can find bus services there. There is also a bus station around Zhongxin Gounyuan which is at the edge of the central shopping district.
