Located not too far
away from the Bell Tower on West Street is the
grand Drum Tower which marks the Muslim quarter
of Xian. This Drum Tower in Xian, built in the
13th year of the reign of Ming Emperor Hong Wu
or in the year 1380, covers an area close to
2,000 square meters and 33 meters high. The
famous drum is located on the top floor of the
building and you can hear the sound of the drums
when night falls. Another place of interest located
north from the Drum Tower is Beiyaunmen which is a
restored street of traders and craftspeople.
