This temple, also known as Famen Si or Doorway Temple, is well known because the Buddhist relics of Sakyamuni are being kept here. After a heavy downpour in 1981, the entire western side of the twelve storey pagoda collapsed after the rain had weakened the temple's ancient brick structure. Because of this misfortune, restoration works were being carried out and subsequently an underground palace was discovered.
