LITTLE GOOSE PAGODA (LESSER WILD GOOSE PAGODA)

XIAN , CHINA

Standing proudly within the compound of Jianfu Temple is the Lesser Wild Goose Pagoda (also known as Little Goose Pagoda) in Xian. Jianfu Temple was built to hold prayers for the late Emperor Gao Zong. This thirteen storey goose pagoda is more than forty meters high with its top shaken off by an earthquake and it was built during the reign of Tang Emperor Jinglong (707-709). The design of this pagoda is a square brick shaped with many eaves with its width decreases from the bottom to the top. Buddhist scriptures are housed in this pagoda and view from the top of the pagoda overlooking the city of Xian is simply breathtaking.
