Lag Time (Start-up / Autofocus / Shutter Release )

When purchasing digital cameras, one negative aspect to realized is that the digital cameras have lag time which comes in several forms. Knowing the lag time in cameras is important. First there is the time it takes from turning on the camera until the first shot can be taken whereby most cameras will have a one to three second lag and this is commonly referred to as the start-up time. Next is the time it takes for the camera to focus on the subject, or simply to autofocus. Then there is the time between each shot which is the shutter release time. Although it may seems negligible but even the slightest lag can cost you that precious moment that you would liked to be captured in film. Therefore it is advisable to check the camera's specifications before buying.
