Most people believed that by having a
digital camera, the zoom lens has to automatically digital. However,
this may not be the case. You are highly recommended to go for
optical zoom when purchasing a digital camera. Optical zoom in
cameras are important. With optical zoom,
the lens actually moves forward and backwards, zooming in and out,
functioning like a magnifying glass. The object is naturally
magnified by the lens, therefore the image produced is better.
Optical zooms range from three to twelve times. If you required more
than this, then you can consider looking at add-on telephoto lens.
Digital zoom works by enlarging a section of a picture without using
the lens. This in turn will reduce the resolution. If you have used
an image-editing tool like Adobe Photoshop, you will know how it
works. If the image is viewed at 100%, it looks fine but the picture
becomes blurred if the zoom is increased to 150%. The situation
becomes worse when the zoom is increased to 200%. Because of this
shortfall, try to stay away the digital zoom unless absolutely
necessary and it is advised that you never buy a camera based on its
digital zoom capabilities. |
