Insect repellent is an essential travel gearThere are also selections which are suitable for children. It is highly recommended that when you are going to places where insect borne diseases exist or countries having tropical conditions, then it is useful to use a formula which contains DEET. Before doing so, it is always better to get a professional advice from your local doctor or pharmacy before using it if you have sensitive skin. It is known to be the most effective repellent in the market but at the same time, it may produce side effects in some people who have used it. DEET is absorbed through the skin and should only be used on areas of exposed skin and never under clothing or bed sheets. Also, it should not be used in concentrations higher than fifty percent. It is important to know that the higher the concentration, the longer it works and not better as most believed. Always keep it out of your eyes and be careful what you do with your hands after you apply it to kill insects. Always wash your hands first before rubbing your eyes with your fingers. Insect repellent is vital if you are going camping in the jungle or trekking in remote areas.
