Photography Tips and Photography Guide

Since I do not think I have come across anyone who has not taken a single photo during their trips overseas, then I feel that photography tips and photography guide are important travel tips to known before going away on your trip. Photography has become a very important part of the travel experience for all travelers. Not only you can show your relatives and friends of all the interesting places you have visited but at the same you can treasure all the wonderful experience during your trip. Whether your trip is devoted totally to photography or you just bought a camera on the day before embarking on your trip, coming home with as many photographs as possible is something you should not miss and therefore proper planning in advance is essential to photographic success while you are vacationing. To master the art of taking good photos needs time to learn.

To be able to achieve this objective, you must know your plans for your trip. You have to decide for yourself whether photography is on top of your 'things to do' list during your journey. You must then decide on the types of pictures you hope to capture, whether you want to come home with a few spectacular photos suitable for framing in the main hall or you want a complete and descriptive collection of snapshots that narrates your trip. These answers will influence the many decisions that you are going to make. This will decides the amount of equipment that you will be bringing along. The more photography gear you bring along will surely help you to take better photographs but at the same time you will not be able to travel as light as you intended. A trekking trip across the jungle will limit the amount of photography equipment that you can carry as opposed to traveling in a rented car. You will then have to decide on the number of lenses you will need. You have to choose whether you just need a versatile zoom lens or you will also need to bring along a spare camera in case of some accident. Travelers are recommended to bring along spare batteries and also extra rolls of film. Other items such as cable release, carrying case, cleaning supplies, filters, flash, light meter and tripod are optional. No matter what type equipment you bring, always make sure you know how to use them properly. Try to shoot and develop one roll of film using your new equipment before starting your trip. Try to find out the amount of time you will have available for photography. Spending three weeks in one place compared to visiting five countries in one week will offer different types of opportunities.

It will be helpful if you can find out about a location and when the best photograph opportunities arises before starting your trip as it will save a lot of time since common problems hindering good photographs are likely to be lack of time, bad weather conditions and unfamiliarity with subjects. Never pass up good opportunities when taking pictures because the same conditions never exist twice. In order to do this, try carrying all the equipment you may need with you at all times but at the same time, carry your equipment as inconspicuously as possible to prevent theft. When taking pictures, try to take as much as possible and also at unique angles and different composition. Usually these types of pictures often tell more stories compared to photographs of famous tourist destinations. One common mistake among travelers when they get home is that they wished they had taken more photographs and regretting the ones they left out. Sometimes a photograph may not turned up as well as you would have wanted it to, so always take more photographs using different lighting. One basic error travelers do is that they do not record the dates, places and people of the pictures they take as they go along. This will make organizing pictures later more difficult since pictures of temples all look alike. Try to prepare a scrapbook to keep notes of all pictures of interesting places you have taken. You will realized that all the effort you have put in will definitely be worth it when you view these photos at a later time in the future.
