Dry suits or dry scuba suits are used
by divers in extremely cold conditions usually when they are diving
under ice as they allow divers to wear warm undergarments.
Dry suits fully enclose the body and there are a few
types that exist in the market. There are many types of dry suits.
The first type is the foam neoprene dry suits than can be
either tight-fitting or a looser fit to enable you to wear over
warm undergarments. The second type is the membrane dry suits
(shell dry suits) that depends on a waterproof membrane to keep the
water out. You need to wear warm undergarments since they do not
have any insulation properties unlike the foam neoprene dry suits. A
major characteristic of dry suits is that they have built-in boots
and built-in hoods. A method to take care your dry suits is to ensure
that you keep the dry suits zips clean and lubricated with a
wax lubricant. When packing your dry suits, you must also remember
your dry suit undergarments which can be varied for the ambient
temperature, from easily washed tracksuits through thicker synthetic
pile 'woolly bears' (polar fleece) to the warm but hard to clean
fabric Thinsulate, which stays warm even if it becomes wet. |
