Pressure gauge is an
important diving equipment you must have with
you when you are down in the waters because it
tells you how much air is still left in your
scuba cylinder and this instrument is connected to the
high-pressure port of the first stage. An
experienced diver tend to fit a console to this
gauge so that they can keep all their
accessories together in one single place.
A commonly used
mechanical pressure gauge is the oil-filled
Bourdon type which is a circular or
spiral-shaped oil-filled tube sealed at one end
and closed with a flexible diaphragm at the
other end. When the high-pressure hose is
connected to the outside of the diaphragm, the
oil-filled tube then straightens and the end of
the tube, via a series of levers
and gears that magnify the movement, connects to a
pointer that moves across the pressure scale.
Thus, the reading on the scale will let you know
the balance of the air inside the scuba
cylinder.
