Wet suits or
exposure suits are important diving
gear that you use to protect yourself against
sunburn at the surface and abrasion, cuts,
animal stings and heat loss when you are inside
the water is. So, the first item
you need to put in your traveling bag before
boarding the plane is your wet suit. Use this
wet suits guide to help you to bring the proper
wet suits when going diving. Your wet
suit will give your body the best protection
when diving. Wet suits are made from closed-cell
foam neoprene which does not absorb water but
offers insulation while having good elasticity.
The thickness of wet
suits that you will bring along depends on where
you will be going scuba diving. They range from
two millimeters for warm water use to nine
millimeters for very cold water use. Not only
their thickness vary but they come in different
designs. Among the types you can choose from are
'shorties' which only cover the upper legs and
torso or the one-piece full body suits. There
are also the thicker neoprene two-piece wet
suits, the 'Farmer John' bottom and the semi-dry
suits which have close fitting neoprene seals at
the ankles and wrists. Besides packing a wet or
semi-dry suit, some accessories that is worth
binging along are hoods, hard-soled bootees, gloves, spine
pads and knee pads. One word of advice is that
always take with you wet suits that are as tight
a fit as is comfortable.
