MEDICAL KIT CHECK LIST

 

 

 

 

 

Listed below are a list of important medicine products that tourists are recommended to bring along during their travel. Most of the items listed here are freely available in their respective country and for specific brands, tourists are advised to consult their local pharmacist in their own country.

 

  

MEDICINE:-

TREATMENT:-

Antibiotics

This medication must be prescribed and tourists are advised to carry the prescription with them. Essential especially traveling off the beaten track.

 

Antifungal cream or powder

To treat fungal skin infections and thrush.

 

Antihistamine

Useful especially for allergies such as hay fever, to prevent itching from insect bites and also to avoid motion sickness.

 

Antiseptic (povidone-iodine)

Cuts and grazes.

 

Aspirin or paracetamol (acetaminophen)

Pain and fever.

 

Bandages, Band-Aids (plasters) and other wound dressings

To dress wounds from cuts.

 

 

Calamine lotion, sting relief spray or aloe vera

To relief irritation from sunburn, insect bites or stings.

 

Cold and flu tablets, throat lozenges and nasal decongestant

To treat cold or flu.

 

 

Insect repellent, sunscreen, lip balm and eye drops

Important when traveling in hot and dusty area.

 

 

Loperamide or diphenoxylate

Use as blockers for diarrhea.

 

Multivitamins

To be taken when dietary vitamin intake is not sufficient ; especially traveling long journeys.

 

Prochlorperazine or metaclopramide

To treat nausea and vomiting.

 

Rehydration mixture

To prevent dehydration which may caused by bouts of diarrhea. Especially important if traveling with children.

 

Scissors, tweezers and thermometer

Mercury thermometers are prohibited in airplanes.

 

Sterile kit

Could be useful if injections are needed in a country with medical hygiene problems. Get advised from doctors.

 

Water purification tablets or iodine

To be used in places where water is dirty.
