HOW TO USE ESSENTIAL OILS

There are many proven ways to use essential oils in aromatherapy. I am sure that your mother must have rubbed a menthol ointment on your chest to relieve chest congestion when you were a child. She may also have put some of the ointment into a vaporizer to fill the room with a cloud of menthol-scented steam to help you breathe more easily. What your mother did was a form of aromatherapy whereby she tried to use different methods available to maximize its healing powers. This is the same as for aromatherapists whom not only match essential oils to particular symptoms but they also carefully choose the method of delivering aromatherapy.

Essential oils can be used in many different ways and also different application methods are best suited to different ailments. Respiratory problems such as sinusitis and bronchitis respond well to steam inhalation of essential oils and chest massage while nervous complaints are best assuaged by a combination of massage, essential oil baths and essential oil inhalation. Indigestion can be eased by directly inhaling the aroma of peppermint oil. It is also useful to note that constipation responds to an abdominal massage with a blend of fennel and marjoram. The best part is that there is no limitations to the ways it can be used.
