Visha Chikitsa is
a traditional treatment in India used to remove
the poison of creatures like snake and scorpion
from the human body. Famous men have done
research in this field and have come about with
modern applications and medication. The visha
chikitsa involves two totally different methods
which are visha vaidya and visha vidya.
The former includes
the use of medicinal herbs while the latter
relies mainly on mantras and chants. Kokkara
Namboothiri, or widely known as 'vishachikitsa
acharyan' is considered as the master of
vishachikitsa in Kerala. 'Prayoga Samuchayam' is
the authoritative book on visha chikitsa written
by Kochunni Thampuran.
