An Emergency Medical Insurance provides
travel insurance for medical treatment and covers your
hospitalization costs if you become ill or sustained an injury while
traveling and once you are back home in your country, you are on
your own for any necessary follow-up treatment or continuing care.
It is important to note that some policies may pay for benefits that
may not be covered by a standard health insurance plan. Certain
policies may cover a telephone service that you may call so that you
speak to English speaking doctors while you are in a non-English
speaking country. They will sometimes provide a physician monitoring
service where a qualified physician will monitor the treatment you
are receiving by a local physician via telephone. Some policies also
cover expenses for repatriation of the insured's remains in the
event of death or cash payment to the insured or beneficiary in the
event of death, loss of sight or lost of limb. |
