To get an European Travel Insurance, you
need to obtain an E111 form (Form E111) which is available to most
residents of Europe. Once you have filled out the form and get it
validated, your E111 form will provide you with proof for you to get
cheaper medical costs or even free emergency medical treatment in
countries in the European Economic Area (EEA). If you are in one of
the countries in EEA and need to be treated due to a medical
emergency then you will be given treatment according to the same
terms as ordinary citizens in that country. The best thing about
Form E111 is that it is given out free of charge.
All you need to do
is complete the form and get it validated even in places such as a
post office. Once validated, you will have a valid form for use
which covers your wife and children up to the age of sixteen. You
should keep in mind that Form E111 does not give you free medical
treatment but simply that you are entitled to whatever emergency
treatment that the country gives to its own residents and at the
same cost. A new Form E111 must be submitted whenever you change
your address or any information that was on the previous Form E111.
In certain countries, you must show your Form E111 as proof before
you are eligible for treatment so therefore it is useful to keep it
together with your passport. |
