Supplier Default Insurance

Any money you lose due to the bankruptcy of an airline, cruise line, tour operator or other provider of travel services will be covered by the Supplier Default Insurance. Presently this type of travel insurance has been severely cut back since the 11th September 2001. There are some travel insurance companies that no longer offers this type of insurance anymore while others tend to choose which travel suppliers they will insure while some plans may require you to buy the insurance within two weeks of paying the initial deposit for your trip. Most plans do not provide cover if the travel supplier that goes bankrupt or defaults is the same one that provides you with the travel protection plan. It is important to note that customized 'wholesale' plans offered by cruise lines or tour operators directly to you does not cover bankruptcy or cessation of the cruise line or tour operator offering the plan.
