Getting to Houshi
can never be easier and a relaxing spa session
is guarantee to satisfy you. All you have to do
is catch a one hour flight from Haneda to Komatsu
Airport and from there, take a taxi to Awazu Onsen
in Hokuriku region, which is about fifteen
minutes ride. Regarded as the oldest inn in the
world in the Guinness Book of World Records, it
is one of the top spas in Chubu.
The history of Awazu
Onsen began when a Buddhist monk built a
therapeutic retreat near the mineral springs of
Awazu whereby he had the sick immerse themselves
in the hot waters and their health was
immediately restored and ever since, the waters
of Awazu, south of Komatsu in Photo: Houshi at
Awazu Onsen in Japan Ishikawa Prefecture
continued to provide visitors to refresh both
their mind and body. The moss garden view as
seen from the rooms are simply incredible and
during winter, the antique trees are being
sheltered from snow using sculptural shields and
swathes of bamboo. Ishikawa, part of the ancient
territory known as Kaga, is well known for its
cuisine and therefore it is no surprised that
the finest Shoku dishes are served to guests
here. Visitors will surely agree that Houshi
offers one of the best spa destination in
Komatsu.
All seventy four
rooms here have private bathrooms for the
convenience of guests. For the well being of
its guests, the names of each room in Houshi
is taken from the Saijiki, a book on words and
phrases defining the seasons in haiku, which
shows the belief that life is a journey through
the seasons and hope that the guests here can
find a meaningful connection between the name
of the room and the season it represents. You
will also be delighted to know that there are
also two indoor spa baths, two open-air rotenburo
and one kazoku-buro, commonly known as family bath.
For those who are willing to pay a bit more, then
there is the special garden villa to attain
total privacy. It is no doubt that Awazu Onsen
is a famous spa in Chubu.
