First opened for
business in 1831, this well known inn has been
a tourist favorite place to get a good night's
rest due to its cozy and soothing environment
and also its reasonable pricing. Famously known
as the House of the Wild Goose in Fine Weather,
the designs taken from the Edo and Meiji Period
is guaranteed to take your breath away besides
its hand-painted sliding doors, the awesome
lacquer table and the inspiring antiques. Located east of the
Kamo River, it is about two and a half hour away
from Tokyo whereby you can take a Tokaido
Shinkansen ride to Kyoto Station and then travel
a few minutes to get here by cab. Once you
arrive at Kyoto Station, you may also take a bus
No.17 or No. 205 and get off at the
Kawaramachi-gojo bus stop and walk a further
five minutes to get here.
This place is
a dwelling of peace, offering retreat from the
action packed and tension filled cities with
rooms opening out to spectacular garden view and
there are a few rooms which are over a century
old with Room No. 10 and No.21 the most sought
after and for those who wants to stay in rooms
with history attached to it, then they should
avoid the nine newer rooms in the annex. All of
its twenty rooms rooms have private bathrooms.
Also found here are two ofuro, also known as
communal stone baths. Although room charges will
include two meals, dinner will be Japanese
Kaiseki and breakfast will be a choice between
Japanese or Western, this place here
