Shinkasen (bullet train) from Tokyo to Mishima. This journey will take about sixty minutes. After that, spend another half-an-hour to Nagaoka by cab or train. Your travel to Japan will not be completely fulfilled if you do not get to study and experience all that is unique to this country by spending time at one of its onsen ryokan since this place has managed to clung to history, architecture, art and way of doing things the Japanese way.

Kona Besso was first built in the 1930s in a secluded residential area and after going minor transformations through time, it now consists of eight independent villas specially designed in sukiya style. A sukiya is a small wooden tea-ceremony structure in which this idea first began with the tea cottages of the Muromachi Period whereby its construction of wood and plaster is simple and the breathtaking courtyard that sits behind the sliding paper screen doors. The main thing that attracts people here is that each villa has its own private mineral water bath besides the two communal indoor onsen and the two al fresco communal baths. These Japanese baths are excellent for soaking and an ideal place for friends to have relaxed conversations.
