Japan is well known
for its hot springs and this country's hot
spring spas are among its most enjoyable
destinations for both its citizens and foreign
tourists and offer a mind-boggling array of
variations on the seemingly simple act of
soaking in hot mineral waters. As suggested by
its name, tsubaki is the Japanese word for
camellia, so it is not a surprised that this
traditional Japanese ryokan has one of the most
beautiful surroundings ever seen in this region.
Getting here for a
amazing Japanese spa experience is easy. It takes
slightly less than one hour from Tokyo to Atami
Station by Tokaido Shinkansen and then you spend
a ten minutes taxi ride to get to Tsubaki. For
the more adventurous, you can travel by road
which will roughly take two hours from the
country's capital to Oku-Yugawara through Tomei
Kosoku, Odawara-Atsugi Doro and Manazuru-Doro.
This place is very popular because of its
thermal waters and its location. Tsubaki fist
started business in the 1980's and is known for
its excellent food. Once you arrive, you will be

green tea to prepare for a perfect stay. The unique design in
all its twenty-nine rooms is the Sukiya style
which depicts a Japanese tea-ceremony house and
the lattice-work shoji sliding paper doors. A
few guest rooms even have private rotenburo. The
main attractions here are the two indoor spring
baths and two outdoor baths. Your body is
guaranteed to be rejuvenated after a therapeutic
soak in the large bath.
