Johor Lama is
located about thirty kilometers away from the
capital city of Johor. This town used to be the
royal seat of the Johor Sultanate until 1587.
The history that attached to this ancient city will
certainly draw history buffs to this historical attraction.
A misunderstanding
between the sultanate and the Portuguese led to
an attack on this place by the latter in 1587.
Johor Fort was attacked by an army of Portuguese
army which has almost five hundred soldiers.
Since this attack, the fortunes of Johor Lama
started to deteriorate and soon the capital was
transferred to Johor Baru.
