Translated as 'Kite
Association of Johore', this unique organization
holds an International Kite Festival once a year
in February which sees participation from around
the world. Kites is world renowned as a
traditional Malay handicraft and it is known as
layang-layang to the locals with the wau being
the biggest in size. Activities
organized by this organization include kite-making
demonstration, kite-flying competition and kite
presentation from various participating
countries.
The competition held
here is divided into a team category
(for hexagon kites) and individual category (for
traditional kites). Children's kite-coloring
contest is also part of the festival. This
festival gives tourists an unique chance to
learn more about kites.
