SULTAN ABU BAKAR MOSQUE (MASJID SULTAN ABU BAKAR)

JOHORE / JOHOR , MALAYSIA

With a reputation as one of Malaysia's finest mosques, this magnificent mosque took eight years and almost RM400,000 to complete. Officially opened by the late Sultan Ibrahim in 1890, it is a famous landmark of Johore today. One of its main attractions here is the blend of traditional Islamic and classical Italian design whereby the minarets look like British clock towers.

Located on top of a hill, the scenic view of the Tebrau Straits (Straits of Johor) can be seen from here. Walking distance from the mosque is the famous Johor Zoo. Tourists are drawn to this famous Johor mosque because it offers a panoramic view of the Straits of Johore.
