BALAI BESAR - KEDAH

BALAI BESAR

KEDAH - NORTH OF MALAYSIA

Balai Besar, also known as the Royal Audience Hall, is one of the many tourist attractions seen in Alor Setar, Kedah. This attraction was built in 1898 and is being used by the Sultan of Kedah for royal ceremonies and state functions. Located near the famous colonial town square of Padang, this building, which is regarded as the great hall, is sustained on tall pillars and decorated with unique Victorian wrought-iron designs. As with most buildings seen here in Alor Setar, the intricate wood carvings depict beautiful Thai architectural design.
