One of the newly created
tourist destinations is the Langkawi Book Village Malaysia which
was opened in December 1997.
This popular place of interest in Kedah was built based
on the International Book Village concept making this
place the 19th book village and also the
first book village in Malaysia.
This tourist spot is located about
fifteen minutes drive from Kuah or ten minutes away from
the airport, amidst
tranquil setting of the lush rainforest at the foot of Gunung Raya. The numerous traditional houses dotting the
village are stocked with a great variety of books in
various languages. The books here are arranged in six
different exhibits and with each one having its own
unique kampung style house. Tourists will be amazed by types of
books that they can find here.
