 One well known tourist
attraction in Kedah with intriguing legend is
the Tasik Dayang Bunting (Lake of the Pregnant Maiden) which is located in the
heart of the Pulau Dayang Bunting (Island of Pregnant
Maiden). This tourist island is the second largest island after Pulau Langkawi.
The lake is a popular place with barren women would come
to drink the waters until some people attribute
subsequent pregnancy to its mystical powers. It is also
a good place to take a few scenic photographs or enjoy a
relaxing swim. Another legend has it that a white
crocodile or its spirit lives in this lake.
Tasik
Dayang Bunting (Lake of Pregnant Maiden)
Besides the legend that
attaches to this place of interest, Pulau Dayang Bunting
is a jungle-clad island with limestone cliffs lying just south of Langkawi and
a popular island hopping destination. Marble is quarried
here and sent to the mainland for processing but the
main attraction here is definitely the distinctive Tasik Dayang
Bunting and Gua Langsir which is filled with bats.
