At the popular island of Pulau Singa Besar
lies a wildlife sanctuary and
sedimentary rocks which is reputed to be amongst the oldest
in Malaysia going back 500 million years. This place of
interest preserves some species of local animals such as
iguanas, monkeys, mousedeers and peacocks. There is also
a large variety of exotic birds making their homes here
at this island.
The waters surrounding this
island have been designated as a marine reserve. Tourists will
be able to enjoy a quiet walk along the beach and also
go swimming in the clear waters besides enjoying the
facilities provided for camping. In recent times, there
are more and more campers coming here to enjoy the
picturesque surroundings. Nearby islands worth
exploring are Pulau Beras Basah and Pulau Kentut Besar.
