STATE MUSEUM - KEDAH

MUZIUM NEGERI

KEDAH - NORTH OF MALAYSIA

When holidaying in Kedah, the main place of interest to learn more about its cultural heritage and also the royal heritage of the royal family of Kedah is at the State Museum in Alor Setar which is locally known as the Muzium Negeri. This fine building, built in 1936, depicts strong Thai architectural design which shows the strong influences the Thai had on this town. Wonderful items seen here are artifacts from Lembah Bujang and rare Chinese porcelain ware but the main attraction here is the 'gold and silver tree' located at its entrance which was made as a yearly tribute when Kedah was ruled by Siam.
