The most spectacular mosque
in Kedah is the Zahir Mosque (Masjid Zahir). Located
across Balai Besar, the state mosque of Kedah was
official opened in 1912. Thought to be one of the oldest
mosque in Malaysia, the design of this tourist
attraction is based upon Moorish architecture consisting
of a huge dome in its middle and a few smaller domes
surrounded by minarets. This place of worship draw huge
crowds during the weekly Friday prayers.
