Situated
at the confluence of the Klang and Gombak Rivers, the
Masjid Jamek in Kuala Lumpur forms a startling contrast against the modern
buildings behind it. It was built in 1909, designed by
British architecture A.B. Hubbocks, easily making it
the oldest mosque in the city and this Moorish-Colonial
styled mosque is the pride of the nation with
its graceful archways, minarets, domes and
Gothic pillars whereby the best time for a good
photograph is when sunset falls on its minarets
of layered pink and cream bricks.
This popular tourist attraction
is located just behind the grand Photo: Masjid
Jamek in Kuala Lumpur Sultan Abdul Samad building and is well known for its Indian
Muslim architecture. This place is full of followers
during the weekly Friday prayers.
