The
National Mosque, also known as Masjid Negara, in
Kuala Lumpur is a uniquely designed tourist
attraction which
embodies a contemporary expression of traditional
Islamic art, calligraphy and ornamentation.
Its most
striking feature is the multiple fold umbrella-like roof
which symbolizes the aspirations of an eighteen pointed
star which represents the thirteen states and
the five pillars of Islam of this independent
nation and tourists should not miss the opportunity to take
photographs of the famous landmark in Malaysia.

Located near the
Railway Station, this famous tourist spot stands prominently against the skyline
with its sleek and stylish 73 meters high minaret.
Also seen here are forty eight smaller domes
covering the beautiful courtyard and the design
seen here is said to be inspired by the Grand
Mosque in Mecca. The national mosque
serves as the principal mosque for the city dwellers and
this place is packed with followers during the
Friday prayers whereby this grand mosque can
take up to eight thousand people. Across the
road you can see the remarkable Pusat Islam
Malaysia which is the Islamic Centre.
