SULTAN ABDUL SAMAD BUILDING AND INFOKRAF - KUALA LUMPUR

SULTAN ABDUL SAMAD BUILDING AND INFOKRAF

MALAYSIA

A stately, historic building rich in character, it was built in 1897 to house several  important government departments during the British administration. This Moorish architecture inspired building, topped by a shiny copper dome and a 40 meters high clock tower, has now become a major landmark in the city and was designed by the famous British architect named A.C. Norman.

This famous tourist attraction in Malaysia used to be the Secretariat building during the British administration. It serves as the backdrop for important events such as the National Parade on the 31st of August every year and the ushering in of the New Year. This heritage building which had served as the Malaysian Government's administrative building is now occupied by the Supreme and High Courts and the Textile Museum. Located next to this building is the Infokraf Exhibition Centre which was formerly the City Hall. This Moorish designed building is now the exhibition and sales centre for Malaysian handicraft.
