Visitors who prefer a bit
more adventure in their travel may opt for the daily
river boat tours along the Malacca River, also known as
Sungai Melaka. Reservations for the boat trips can be
made at the quay right behind the tourist office. The
boat rides usually take less than one hour and visitors
will be passing through the downtown area where the
common sight are godowns and fish markets. You will also
see the Kampung Morten which is a distinctive Malay
kampung house called the Villa Sentosa. The return trips
goes pass the wharves down river. For those who are
willing to pay more, you can even travel to the nearby
offshore islands located in the Straits of Malacca. The
boat tours are definitely a good way to relax the feet
after a hectic day.
