At the Maritime Museum, tourists will have the chance to catch a glimpse of the ancient treasures of Malacca here and this tourist attraction is constructed after the Portuguese ship called 'Flor De La Mar'. The Portuguese galleon sank in the Straits of Malacca on its way to Portugal. With her hull laden with invaluable treasures seized from Malacca, the galleon was doomed from existence had it not for the efforts to revive its symbolic significance to Malacca's heritage. Visitors will be awed by the 33.52 meters long and 6.6 meters wide structure which was built with concrete and covered with cengal and resal wood planks.

At this historical museum, visitors can get a closer look at Malacca from the famed Malay Sultanate of the 14th century to the Portuguese era, the Dutch era and the British era. There are exhibits of foreign ships models that had once called at the port of Malacca during the height of its maritime hegemony. This map room displays authentic maps and charts that provide details of Melaka's history dating back to the Portuguese times and one of the main exhibits here is the unique heavy iron chest that were used to store precious cargo. Also can be seen is a replica of a 15th century galleon that once sailed from Europe to the trading port of Malacca. It is close on Tuesday. This museum is one of the many places of interest in Malacca that visitors should not miss.
