Located in a beautiful
British villa built during the early 1910's, the museum
displays films and slides, manuscripts and video tapes
showing the events leading up to Malaysia achieving its
independence in the year 1957. The announcement of this
country's independence was made at the 'warriors field'
from across the road. This building once housed the
famous Malacca Club, a mainstay of colonialism, and this
place is easily recognizable due to its astonishing
architectural style with its unique Mogul designed
domes. One interesting historical item on displayed here
is the 1957 Chevy that was used by Malaysia's first
Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman, for official
functions. This tourist attraction is a popular place
for school children to visit during their school
excursion.
