Seen in the residential area
of Tranquerah in Melaka is the historical Tranquerah
Mosque (Masjid Tranquerah). Visitors who are on their journey to Port
Dickson will surely not miss this place of interest.
This majestic mosque is more than one hundred and fifty
years old and depicts a square, multi-tiered roof which
is a typical Sumatran design. This mosque stands out
among the other mosques in Melaka because a pagoda was
built instead of minarets and the main building takes
the shape of a pyramid. One interesting attraction found
here is the tomb of Sultan Hussain of Johore whom, in
1819, is known for signing the cession of Singapore to
Sir Stamford Raffles and later he retired to Melaka
until his death there.
