TANJONG TUAN - NEGERI SEMBILAN

TANJONG TUAN

CENTRAL OF MALAYSIA

Near the Blue Lagoon is Tanjong Tuan, formerly known as Cape Rachado, noted for a 137-year-old lighthouse called Rachado Lighthouse built on a headland overlooking the Straits of Malacca. On a clear day, one can see Port Dickson town and the outline of Sumatra across the Straits of Malacca from this vantage point. Tourists can even climb up the narrow spiral stairway to the mirror room to seek the breathtaking view but permission has to be obtained first from the Melaka Tourist Office or from the keeper of the lighthouse.

The headland at Tanjong Tuan is a sanctuary for migratory birds and of great interest to bird watchers. The headland forest is an important landmark for migratory birds like sparrows, hawks, honey buzzards, eagles and swifts. In September until October and again from March to April, a large concentration of hawks and eagles can be seen and bird lovers will be delighted with the view.
